About MCC

Vision Statement

Redeemed by the love of God, reconciled by the blood of Christ, and renewed by the Holy Spirit, we the Muskogee Church of Christ family, commit to:

•  provide a refuge where all can celebrate the joy of freedom in Christ,

•  to encourage transformation as we seek maturity in Christ,

•  to share God's good news through loving and serving others so they may have life in Christ.

Experiencing God's Grace

Muskogee Church of Christ (MCC) is a safe haven for those who seek to truly know and commune with the Lord Jesus Christ. At MCC you will not feel judged or looked down upon but you will find a place where God's forgiveness and grace pervades all of our interactions with each other. An atmosphere of love and joy characterizes this church family as we strive to live in the freedom that comes through the grace we have in Christ. “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” (2 Cor 3:17)

One of the highest goals of a Christian is to be “formed” in the image of Christ (Gal 4:19). At MCC our spiritual leaders are committed to providing opportunities through preaching, teaching and hands on ministry to lead each individual into a greater measure of maturity in Christ (Eph 4:11-13).

We want to share with others the good news of what Christ has done for us. Involvement in community service, mission's programs, various church ministries and small groups are ways that we seek to serve and share the love of Christ with others (Matt 28:18-20).

Beliefs

We believe the Bible to be the inspired words of God containing a record of ways in which God has interacted with humanity throughout history. The stories and clear teachings of the Bible tell us who God is, how we may have relationship with Him and give us principles by which we may live our lives.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God and that he lived here on earth in the flesh (John 1:1-18), that he died for our sins and that he was raised from the dead through the power of God (1 Cor 15). It is through faith in Jesus that we are saved from our sins and participate in God's salvation. “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he sent.” (John 6:29)

Baptism (immersion) is a wedding ceremony that joins us with Christ. Baptism is our faith response to the gospel of Christ. Through baptism we are proclaiming loudly that we believe in Jesus and are submitting ourselves to him. Thus, at baptism our old self is crucified with Christ and we are raised to live a new life with Christ.

The indwelling of the Holy Spirit characterizes our new life in Christ . The Holy Spirit creates the Christ personality within us (2 Cor 5:17, Gal 5:22-25). The joy and love in our lives proceed forth from the Spirit within us (Rom 5:5). The Holy Spirit is also our seal, guaranteeing us the eternal life in heaven that is promised to all who believe in Jesus (1 Cor 1:21-22).

The MCC family extends fellowship to all baptized believers. God is not trying to make it difficult for those who believe in Jesus to get into heaven. It is Satan and his schemes to lead us back into the slavery of sin that we must guard against. Thus we accept all immersed believers, who profess relationship with Jesus into our church family.
